— New NPP of Russian design in European Union will enhance Europe’s confidence in Russian nuclear technologies

During a press-conference in Sofia on Oct 9 2008 the Vice Premier of Russia Sergey Sobyanin confirmed the deadlines for implementing the Belene NPP project in Bulgaria.

The success of Russia in Bulgaria, where we have won a tender for the construction of the second Bulgarian NPP, has marked the return of our country to the European nuclear market with most serious offers. The fact that we have confirmed the deadlines for implementing the project is a worthy response to skeptical questions if we can build Belene NPP in time. Belene has already become an international project as RWE Power from Germany has won the right to be its strategic investor. It will invest hundreds of millions of EUR in the plant and thereby will show confidence in Russian technologies.
