Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation and China Nuclear Energy Industry Corporation have signed a memorandum for the construction of two more units at Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant. The document has been signed by the prime ministers of Russia and China. The memorandum also envisages the construction of the fourth gas centrifuge plant in China and the building of an experimental fast-breeder reactor.

It was an expected decision. We have cooperated with China in the field of nuclear energy for a long time. On the one hand, our cooperation is based on market relations – if our offers were not competitive, China would not accept them – on the other, it is traditional and based on old partnership. It is especially important that our nuclear companies enjoy state support, particularly, the support of financial institutions.

I think that our cooperation in such spheres as nuclear energy, space, aircraft building is mutually beneficial and promising. This memorandum is a sign that we can hope for new contracts not only in China but on other markets.
