– Agreement for construction of new reactors at Kudankulam is the first sign after the lifting of the nuclear sanctions on India

Russia and India have signed an agreement for the construction of four more reactors at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant and for cooperation at other sites. The agreement was signed in New Delhi during the official visit of President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev to India.

Russia and India have traditionally good regions in the political and scientific-technical spheres. The results of the visit of President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev to India have shown that these relations are not only existent but tend to develop even more actively.

The agreement for the construction of new reactors at Kudankulam is the first sign after the lifting of the Nuclear Suppliers Group’s sanctions on India. More active participation in the development of the Indian nuclear market allows Russian companies to diversify their markets, which is especially important in the face of the global financial crisis. Let’s hope that our companies will take into account the changing situation and in the future contracts will be better thought-out than before. I am glad that the Admiral Gorshkov incident has not spoiled our relations.
