– Rosatom is becoming an active player on the market

Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation and the Ministry of Federal Planning, State Investments and Services of Argentina have signed a statement on cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy.

The statement was signed by Deputy Director General of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Nikolay Spassky and Minister of Federal Planning, State Investments and Services of Argentina Julio de Vido in the presence of President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev and President of Argentina Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner

By signing with Argentina a cooperation agreement in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy our country has taken a very important step towards expansion into the Latin American market. Most of the countries of Latin America are quickly developing despite crisis and need more and more energy. By concluding contracts with Russia, the countries of that region show their independence and political will as they no longer have to look back at their northern neighbor, the United States, so as to see if it approves of their actions or permits them to act at all – as was the case before. Under present conditions it is more rational to build nuclear power plants than any other types of power stations. Given the geological conditions of Latin America construction of NPP will cost as much as construction of other power plant but will not cause as much ecological harm as other plants can cause. Let’s not forget that the jungles of Latin America are the lungs of our planet. Besides, NPP construction projects will create lots of jobs and will stimulate the development of national industries and sciences. Russia has once again proved its leadership in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy. Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation is becoming the most active player on this market and has confirmed its professionalism and sense of market once again. The money our nuclear companies will earn from their contracts in Latin America will not be fully transferred into the budget but will be spent on the development of nuclear energy in our country.
