– We have enjoyed quite good partnership with India of late

India is considering the possibility of building four more units (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th) at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant with reactors of Russian design, senior official of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited Ashok Chauhan said during Moscow-Delhi video bridge. He said that the 1st unit of Kudankulam NPP might be ready by the end of 2009. Ravi B. Grover, Director of the Strategic Planning Group of Homi Bhabha Atomic Research Center, said that the Indian authorities were going to cooperate with the Russians under other NPP construction projects in other region of India.

Russia and India have enjoyed quite good partnership of late. We are actively developing both political and economic relations. In the economy we have two successful directions: Rosatom’s active work on the Indian nuclear energy market and Sistema Joint Stock Financial Corporation’s successful negotiations for activity on the Indian telecoms market.

There is one more factor stimulating our cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy: we have a very good price. Besides, unlike the United States and the United Kingdom, we do not cooperate with Pakistan. For India this is a very important political factor.

So, we can say that the statement of Executive Director of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited Sudhinder Thakur that India is ready to cooperate with Russia under new NPP construction projects is the result of the effective efforts of our Foreign Ministry and businessmen.
