Mikhail Grishankov, first vice chairman of State Duma Security Committee

– Russian technologies have long been recognized worldwide

India is considering the possibility of building four more units (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th) at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant with reactors of Russian design, senior official of Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited Ashok Chauhan said during Moscow-Delhi video bridge. He said that the 1st unit of Kudankulam NPP might be ready by the end of 2009. Ravi B. Grover, Director of the Strategic Planning Group of Homi Bhabha Atomic Research Center, said that the Indian authorities were going to cooperate with the Russians under other NPP construction projects in other region of India.

The Russian nuclear technologies have long been recognized worldwide and our leadership in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy is obvious for our Indian partners.

The fact that Russia is constructing nuclear power plants in India, Iran, China and some other countries and is participating in tenders for more projects shows that, despite the global economic crisis, our nuclear industry has enough capacities for enlarging our presence and using our technologies in any country. That’s why the decision of our Indian partners to continue building our reactors in their country is quite natural: Russia is India’s old partner in the field of nuclear power engineering and now that the Nuclear Suppliers’ Group has lifted its restrictions on India, Rosatom’s chances to cooperate with that country have substantially grown despite active competition on the part of other nuclear giants.
