– Rosatom will be offered a very wide choice and favorable prices

The 2nd international scientific-industrial forum “Fair of Nuclear Power Plant Construction” is being held in Nizhniy Novgorod May 19–22 2009.

The fair is a good chance for our companies to offer their products and services to Rosatom. Such competition will help Rosatom to reduce its construction expenses while for the companies it will be a chance to get money under Rosatom’s stably financed development program. New contracts will help our machine builders to survive the crisis. Long-term – 15–20-year – contracts will give them additional stability. Besides, the fair will allow Rosatom to buy products and services at the most favorable prices and to save budgetary funds.

The fair may help to form a pool of conscientious suppliers, which will compete with one another and offer Rosatom the best prices. Such forums must be held annually or even more often and must involve any companies, including small and medium-sized enterprises. As a result, Rosatom will enjoy a very wide choice and very favorable prices. However, this fair is not the only mechanism boosting competition. Rosatom is actively working to create (acquire) players in the field of production of equipment for nuclear power plants. The establishment of Alstom-Atomenergomash and the acquisition of Energomash are elements of this policy. There are no absolutely ideal deals but these solutions will liven up the market and will attract other machine builders from Russia and abroad. This will help to resolve lots of questions and the only problem it may create is the pleasant problem of choice.

The international scientific-industrial forum “Fair of Nuclear Power Plant Construction” was first held in 2008. Over 80 companies and organizations from four foreign countries (Germany, France, the Czech Republic and Ukraine) and 22 regions of the Russian Federation took part in the event. The program of the forum included open tenders and public auctions for the supply of equipment for the 2nd unit of Rostov NPP, the 4th unit of Kalinin NPP and units of Novovoronezh NPP as well as selection of suppliers and sub-contractors for the construction of the 3rd and 4th unit of Rostov NPP.
