– The prices have fallen by 30%, which is quite a good result

The tender committee for the selection of equipment suppliers for the 4th unit of Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant has held its first meeting in the framework of the “Fair of Nuclear Power Plant Construction.” The committee examined the offers of the participants in the second stage of the tender. The final decision will made within 10 days.

NIAEP has conducted tenders for almost a year. The first tender took place in Apr 2008. The experience of the first auctions in 2008 has shown that auctions must be preceded by thorough prequalification. Today, we submitted to Atomenergoprom the latest version of relevant regulations reflecting all improvement we have made since the last year.

In two years we have equipped two units (the 2nd unit of Rostov Nuclear Power Plant and the 4th unit of Kalinin Nuclear Power Plant) and, today, we are ready supply much more equipment than we did in the past year. If Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation wins the right to be the general contractor of the construction of the 3rd and 4th units, we are ready to equip them much quicker due to the experience we have acquired so far.

As a result of the first two fairs the prices have fallen by 30%, which is quite a good result.
