Atomexpo 2009 international forum is taking place in Moscow May 26–28.
Hungary advocates large-scale development of nuclear power engineering. On Mar 30 2009 the Hungarian Parliament adopted a decision to actively develop nuclear energy. It was the last stage of two-year preparations. We have calculated how much energy we will need by 2020 and have seen that, considering the wear of our thermal power plants, we will need total capacities of 6,000MW with, at least, 2,000MW being nuclear reactors.
Hungary is going to announce a tender and to invite Russian specialists to take part in it. The tender will be announced in late 2010 or early 2011. The construction will be started in 2014 and we hope that the 1st unit will be launched in 2019. Our requirement of principle is that the capacity of one unit should be 1,000–1,600MW.
