– The social and economic significance of Baltic NPP for Kaliningrad region is obvious

Public hearings on the Baltic NPP project will take place in Neman, Kaliningrad region, on July 24 2009.

The social and economic significance of Baltic Nuclear Power Plant for Kaliningrad region is obvious. The region needs own sources of energy and NPP can meet all of its demands.

This project will give the region taxes and jobs, which is especially important in the face of crisis. Russia wants to have its own facility in Kaliningrad region and not just some lines running from somewhere.

The 1st unit of Baltic NPP is supposed to be launched in 2016.
