NNEGC Energoatom (Ukraine) has suggested revising the terms of its nuclear fuel supply contract with TVEL OJSC (part of Atomenergoprom OJSC). Vice President of Energoatom Olga Kravets has admitted that the company is failing to timely pay for the supplied fuel. “We are sure that the Ukrainian NPPs will be stably supplied with fuel despite this difficulties.”
Due to its special technological cycles and safety requirements, nuclear power engineering is a field of long-term cooperation and cannot depend on political and economic circumstances. The Russian nuclear power engineers perfectly understand this. And the same is true for the contract of NNEGC Energoatom and TVEL OJSC. Russian nuclear industry is one of the most powerful and competitive in the world and is a reliable partner and a guarantor of stable supplies. That’s why the actions of the Ukrainian authorities or even their change cannot influence TVEL’s contractual obligations.
