NNEGC Energoatom (Ukraine) has suggested revising the terms of its nuclear fuel supply contract with TVEL OJSC (part of Atomenergoprom OJSC). Vice President of Energoatom Olga Kravets has admitted that the company is failing to timely pay for the supplied fuel. “We are sure that the Ukrainian NPPs will be stably supplied with fuel despite this difficulties.”
I welcome the intention of NNEGC Energoatom to sign an agreement with TVEL as it can put an end to uncertainty in Russian-Ukrainian nuclear relations, guarantee stable supplies to the Ukrainian NPPs, stimulate further cooperation and reduce political tensions.
Nuclear power engineering is a sector requiring highest possible safety at all of its stages. That’s why TVEL is ready to guarantee stability of fuel supplies to neighbors if the latter guarantees their safety and this reconfirms the reliability of the company and the whole Russian nuclear industry as a highly responsible partner, who always keeps its promises and builds its relations on the basis of mutually beneficial cooperation with all counter-agents.
Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation and its subsidiaries always fulfill their obligations to their partners irrespective of the policies of their countries and economical shocks and natural calamities wherever they happen. So, the nuclear industry of Ukraine can be sure that TVEL will comply with its commitments and will not allow delays.
