I’m worried about energy security in the Baltic region. Ignalina NPP which is to be closed this year is a big power plant and its replacement wouldn’t be easy. As for other energy sources we can say that there is energy available because Russia is close and Russia can also export electricity to the Baltic states but if speaking about other supplies then there may be some help from Finland but probably a big problem.
Russia plans to build the Baltic NPP in Kaliningrad region and in the future that might help the situation. Speaking about possibility that the Baltic states may import electricity from it I think that it is very important for economic development and energy security of the Baltic region. It’s important to realize that we must work together and collaborate to guarantee stability and further development. Nowadays there are some political differences between the countries but from the viewpoint of economic profitability they should be solved and cooperation is reasonable. It is high time to understand that we should live in a completely friendly region. It is important for the future and we should work at it in collaboration.
