On December 7–8, 2009 Atomex forum for the nuclear industry suppliers powered by Atomenergoprom, JSC will take place at the World Trade Center in Moscow. The mission of the forum is to enhance efficiency of disbursement of the investment resources at construction and operation of the nuclear energy facilities, providing for transparency in procurement procedures at the nuclear power industry. They aim at addressing the issues of companies within the Russian nuclear power complex, such as enhancement of operations with existing and prospective suppliers. The program of the conference provides for discussion of such burning issues as procurement policies, standardization, engineering and NPP construction project management, information technologies, requirements to suppliers of goods and service providers in the nuclear power industry.
Sergey Shimanskiy, Director for Equipment Sales for NPP, “Privody Uma”:
It is a high-profile event. For it is no secret how many supplies, tenders and other competitions have been carried out, on the one hand, at the certain type of the industry reorganization, on the other hand. There have been material changes in financial sphere for the past few years, both in terms of its structure and procedures. Therefore, we are deeply concerned of what will happen next. Because we represent a foreign supplier and we are interested to see which challenges we are likely to face. Some issues may be resolved through the process of reorganization, others may persist. Therefore, this topic is very interesting. Last time the forum was very interesting, and I hope it will be the same this time. I have an ambiguous impression of procurement transparency. On the one hand, last time there were some interesting addresses made by the Atomenergoprom and Rosatom’s delegates. On the other hand, when it comes to procurement activities, there are certain peculiarities.
As for our company, we have been long in the industry, thus we are mostly interested in those changes that we are facing now. However, I have seen many newly established companies there. Therefore, the forum gives them a chance to ask questions and understand the rules of the game: what to do with certification, approvals, permits and quality control and how to do it. Now there will be an interesting matter of accreditation. There used to be Rosatomenergo Concern’s accreditation, now, as far as understood, it will be done for the whole Rosatom. Although we did pass all these accreditations, we would like to see the new requirements and decide if it is feasible for us to continue such operations or work through the agents. Generally speaking, Atomenergoprom has organized a very useful and interesting event. We have been to Atomexpo, Atomic Forum and we paid a visit to Belarus, and we could share nothing but positive feedback on such events.
