Babaritsky Viktor AlexandrovichBabaritsky Viktor Alexandrovich:
— Today we are holding public consultations on the materials of the project documentation and evaluation of environmental impact of the floating APP planned for deployment. The bearer of the idea of placing FAPP in Vilyuchinsk became the head of our city, which over a dozen years had been appealing to power-holding structures including “Rosatom” State Corparation.
What is FAPP for us? For the city it means life. Today, in order to generate heat in Vilyuchinsk there is used fuel oil. The scheme of its delivery is very complicated and expensive. This is caused by absence of tanker fleet in the Far East. The last tanker, which we have received just a day ago, had been unloaded problematically. During its voyage there had been three unscheduled stops due to equipment breakdowns. And in future it won’t be easier — there are no reasons for such optimism, so far. Optimism is inspired by another matter — by the prospects of building a floating APP in Vilyuchinsk. The future may lie with nuclear energy, and that relates to the Kamchatka region as well.
