— One of the key events in the nuclear industry over the past year were agreements on full-scale cooperation with the Germany’s concern Siemens, which will allow Russia to enter the European market. It is a pity, though, that the «divorce” of Siemens with Areva hasn’t allowed yet to embark on joint projects. Generally, the past year was rich in achievements on the world’s stage. These were profitable contracts for supply of fuel in the U.S.A. and India, the first ones after lifting of restrictions on Russian nuclear industry — of anti-dumping duties and embargo respectively. This was the agreement with Japan in the sphere of peaceful atomic energy which gave a legal basis for the practical implementation of a number of joint projects.

In the corporate sphere one should mention the completion of formation of the authorized capital of Atomenergoprom. The holding has also placed the first bond issue testing in such way a new instrument for the industry to attract funds for investments. In addition, nuclear energy specialists have taken steps to improve transparency, efficiency — there was taken the decision on optimization of Atomenergoprom structure, on the implementation of the procurement system in the industry, on commencement of preparation to IAS. According to the news stream, in 2009 Rosatom closely cooperated with private companies that indicates movement towards the openness.

Here we are dealing with the second power unit of the Rostov nuclear power plant, which starting was the first not only for the last 5 years, but also the first one in the framework of the program of Rosatom.
