Vasily Konuzin, Analyst of “Alemar” Investment Financial Company:

 — The Ukraine really needs access to and strategic interest in the Uranium Enrichment Centre

Nuclear Fuel State Concern (the Ukraine) and Rosatom Nuclear Energy State Corporation (Russia) have signed an agreement of purchase and sale of shares of the International Uranium Enrichment Centre.

Vasily Konuzin, Analyst of “Alemar” Investment Financial Company:

In general, the issue of cooperation in the field of the nuclear power industry was raised in spring; even then some agreements were signed. And the fact that at present some outline for further cooperation between Russian and Ukrainian nuclear industry is being developed is surely a good step forward, at least now.

The Ukraine really needs access to and strategic interest in the Uranium Enrichment Centre in order to increase the fuel supply security. And for Russia it might be a back up for extension of cooperation in future.

In future, the access of the Ukrainian party to the fuel factor can possibly result in cooperation in the field of construction and service of the nuclear power industry in the Ukraine. In addition, the Ukraine wanted to construct a uranium enrichment plant; and Russia can also get its share in return. The exchange of shares batches of the facilities, strategically important for the nuclear power industry, will be a mutually beneficial co-operation.
