Dmitry Kumanovsky, Head of the analytical department of Lenmontazhstroy:

 — Signing of Tianwan NPP documents proves that nuclear technologies are still in demand.

According to President of Atomstroyexport OJSC Alexander Glukhov, signing of annexes to the general contract for construction of the second stage of Tianwan NPP, comprising its commercial and payment conditions means that China has again confirmed that Russian nuclear technologies are completely safe and competitive. According to his version, the annexes were submitted by the Chinese customer for approval to the respective authorities of the country after the safety check successfully passed by TNPP. “In point of fact, its’ the first actual contract document signed under conditions of “post-Fukushima” events, showing that Russian nuclear technologies applied in absolutely new conditions are safe and competitive”, Glukhov noted.

Dmitry Kumanovsky, Head of the analytical department of Lenmontazhstroy:

Signing of documents with regard to the second stage of Tianwan NPP is certainly an important stage which proves that, firstly, nuclear technologies are still in demand and, secondly, that Russian technologies are able to prevent occurrence of dramatic effects happened at the plant of Japanese TEPCO. No problems were reveled in the course of inspections at Russian NPPs and TNPP performed by Rosatom. That’s why Rosatom may have a substantial share in the nuclear projects of China, which is going to increase capacity of nuclear power plants up to 70 GW in years to come.

The contract for Tianwan NPP will apparently make it possible for Russia to preserve its status at the world nuclear market and to withstand the competition with American and Japanese companies, undermined credibility at the world market after the events in Japan. Given flexible approach to the customer’s demands and increased isolation in elements, non-critical in terms of safety, like in China, Russia will be able to offer most efficient and cost-effective solutions attracting the seller to Russian nuclear service and technologies.
