Igor Orlov, Chairman of the Council of Energoresource Consortium

— The reformation of the nuclear power sector should solve the problem of energy shortfall

The member of the working group, the chairman of the Board of Energoresource Consortium Igor Orlov says that the adoption of the law opens up new prospects for the country’s nuclear power sector. He says that the united structure of the nuclear power industry will spawn new NPPs, will boost the share of nuclear energy in the country’s energy complex and will solve the problem of heating in the regions.

“As an inspector of Arkhangelsk Nuclear Thermal Power Plant, I see sings of coming progress in the problem of energy shortfall and heat supply in the Russian regions. I expect the law to give positive results. All these innovations of the new administration of Rosatom are a great contribution to the development of the country,” says Orlov. At the same time, he is concerned that Rosatom has not mentioned Arkhangesl TPP among the facilities to be launched by 2020: “The plant will solve the heating problem in three northern cities: Arkhangesk, Novodvinsk and Severodvinsk. I would like the federal program to do something to foster the early resolution of this problem.”
