– Foreign experts recognize the high level of Russian nuclear technologies

Complex emergency training has started at Leningrad NPP on Sept 19. Representatives of Armenia, Germany, Korea, Norway, the United States, Ukraine, Finland, France and Sweden are observing the event.

Such events are conducted every year at one of Rosenergoatom’s NPPs and are aimed at enhancing the plant’s preparedness for possible emergencies. This time Rosenergoatom will check up the preparedness of LNPP’s personnel to quickly respond to emergencies. Rosenergoatom’s Emergency Response Group and Crisis Center will see how effectively they can interact with local emergency groups and federal and regional emergency authorities.

The director general of the All-Russian Research Institute of Technical Physics and Automatics Nikolay Kuzelev has commented on the event:

Such events are extremely important. Today, our economic welfare depends on nuclear energy and we need to be sure that our nuclear power plants are safe. New technologies are a guarantee that no emergencies will ever take place at our nuclear power plants.

Presently, Belgium is hosting a European nuclear conference. One of the key topics of that conference is the safety of nuclear technologies. I have seen once again that our nuclear power plants are one of the safest and best equipped facilities in the world and our foreign colleagues acknowledge this fact. This is not the limit though. We need to continue our work. Technologies are constantly developing and we need more and more efforts for ensuring their safety.
