– The performance of our NPPS shows that they are safe

The experience of Chernobyl shows that emergency response services should constantly enhance their preparedness. That’s why our annual trainings are focused on effective interaction in responding to any emergency, including nuclear accident.

Each Russian NPP has its individual emergency training program. Once in a quarter Rosenergoatom conducts trainings for rescue personnel and organizations with a focus on quick and effective interaction with NPPs and theoretical guidance on how to effectively localize a possible accident. Today, our NPPs are as safe as any NPP in the developed nuclear states. Our foreign experts attentively watch all our trainings and their response is generally favorable. Now too, 17 representatives from 9 countries have come to observe the training at Leningrad NPP.

The performance of our plants shows that they are safe.

In order to ensure its safety, each industrial facility, including NPP, should give priority to safety culture and efficiency of equipment. As regards the newly-built units, we equip them with modern upgraded systems (including safety systems) so as to make it easier for our personnel to operate and maintain them.

All of our NPPs apply similar safety standards. They are constantly improving their safety so as to be no worse than their foreign counterparts. We regularly meet with our foreign colleagues to exchange experience and information and to be aware of all news in the IAEA and developed nuclear powers.
