“Today, I would like to point out our achievements. The federal target program is focused the development of nuclear technologies but we also have to develop our personnel. In the 1980s-1990s our industry was in crisis and many specialists went away. In fact, we have lost a whole generation and now we have to fill this gap. Today, we need to create real conditions for attracting young specialists. For example, in the Untied States lots of youths would be happy to be nuclear power engineers because it is a highly reputed and well paid job. ”
“As regards our achievements on the world market, I would like to say that the launch of the Tianwan NPP in China has proved that our cooperation with foreign partners is successfully developing. They in the West see that our technologies are among the best and they want to cooperate with us. One example is our JV with Alstom. This project will give us access to many French technologies. We actively cooperate with Siemens and their specialists also acknowledge our advantages. I am not surprised: after all, we are 20 years “older” than they in the sphere.”
“One of the key goals of the federal target program is to consolidate the efforts of our nuclear companies – first of all, to work out joint projects based on the experience of the military sector. For example, the ship reactors designed by the military sector can be used in the civil nuclear power industry. We have designed a trap for melted fuel, which has significantly enhanced the safety of nuclear reactors.”
“If we show a complex approach to the federal target program we will achieve excellent results. Our plans are ambitious but quite practicable. Our strength is in our scientific potential.”
