– Without developing nuclear energy we will not be able to implement our national projects

“The establishment of Rosatom state corporation is a long-awaited decision. It is the result of the work of a large group of experts working in the nuclear industry. This is the optimal form for the time being and it reflects the general collective opinion of our workers.”

As you may know, on Oct 11 State Duma is to consider the bill on the establishment of Rosatom state corporation for nuclear energy. The corporation will comprise Atomeneroprom holding, nuclear weapons complex, fundamental science and nuclear and radiation safety institutes.

“The corporation will make the work of the industry – from designing of new technologies and mining of uranium to production of energy – more effective as it will be a single organism with a single development strategy. I believe that the corporation will give us new opportunities and new resources. We will be no longer forced to ask the Government for money. The nuclear industry is getting increasingly attractive for big investors.”

“For more effective work the newly established corporation will have to fit into the social sector. Today, we have launched an ambitious long-term development program. But this program is not only figures. Our development is part of general national development. Energy projects are essential part of national projects. Without developing energy we will not be able to implement our national projects. Masout and gas prices are growing and we may get into a social deadlock. We will not be able to enhance our welfare, to develop agriculture, to provide people with housing, unless we seek to make energy cheaper. And nuclear energy is the only way to get cheap energy.”
