The establishment of Russian-French Alstom-Atomenergomash low-speed turbine JV was a right step on Rosatom’s part, says the leading turbine expert of Russia, member of the Russian Academy of Science Gennady Filippov.
RIA Novosti reports Filippov to say that the JV will give Russia an advanced technology for production of equipment for nuclear power plants.
The contract for the production of high-capacity low-speed turbines at ZiO Podolsk (Russia) on the basis of French technology was signed this year. Atomenergomash (Russia) will own 51% of the JV, Alstom (France) – 49%.
“We need low-speed turbines not only for building new nuclear power plants. It is a very promising production. I think it was a right step on Rosatom’s part. Now we have to train personnel for the plant,” says Filippov.
