The ABV-6M reactor systems that are supposed to be used for the construction of floating nuclear power plants in the Republic of Sakha-Yakutia will not be as strong as KLT-40. If we manage to make them economically efficient, we will be able to solve the energy problems of villages and small towns. Floating NPPs will produce not only electricity but also heat. The latter is really vital for northern regions. The key advantage of ABV-6M reactors is that they can work for several years without refueling.
Hence, the lower the capacity of plants the bigger the territory we can build them on. ABV-6M reactor systems have very good prospects.
The northern regions of Russia are rich in gold and minerals as well as in fish but are not developing their resources because of no energy supplies. Floating NPPs will help us to develop those regions and to use their wealth for the benefit of our economy.
This project will receive not only budgetary but also private financing. For some regions the cost of energy is not as important as its very existence. Stable supply of energy is a factor of quality and, of course, they will have to pay for it.
The reactors are safe and meet all IAEA requirements. Their maintenance, refueling and decommissioning will be controlled by Atomprom.
