Vladimir Zhidkikh, member of Federation Council Nuclear Energy Sub-committee

Atomenergomash-Alstom cooperation will contribute to the revival of our machine building industry

The reforms in the nuclear industry have allowed us to attract foreign investments and to set up joint ventures with foreign partners.

Today, Russian Atomenergomash and French Alstom have completed their transaction to set up a joint venture and to transfer Alstom’s technology for production of half-speed high-capacity turbine. 51% of the shares of the JV belong to Russia.

Alstom is the world leader in production of equipment of power and transport machine building and manufacturing of steam turbines for nuclear power plants. This deal will certainly contribute to the revival of our machine building industry and, consequently, to the implementation of the federal target program for the development of the nuclear industry. In a couple of years the JV is planning to start supplying our NPPs with turbines.
