The federal target program for the development of the nuclear industry of Russia stipulates that we should build quite a big number of nuclear power units within quite a short period of time with a view increase the share of NPPs in the total electricity production to 25%.
Last week the partners transferred 100mln EUR to the authorized capital of their joint venture with a total of 300mln EUR to be invested in the JV.
The contract has two advantages: first, the JV is to be situated in the territory of Russia, over a production area of 60,000 sq m and a land of 70,000 sq m at ZiO-Podolsk (Podolsk, Moscow region) and, second, Alstom has provided the JV with licenses for the production of the Arabelle half-speed high-capacity turbine (1200–1700 MW).
The license contract gives Alstom-Atomenergomash an exclusive right to produce and sell Arabelle turbines in the territory of Russia and to supply them to nuclear power plants of Russian design to be built abroad. Arabelle is one of the best technologies for production of half-speed high-capacity turbines for the moment and it will certainly help Rosatom in its NPP construction activities.
I would like to remind you that Alstom is the world’s leading machine builder and the JV will help us to build more efficient and profitable nuclear power plants.
