“Kurchatov Institute” Russian Scientific Center will provide the Skolkovo Project participants with its database for research and scientific activities.
According to the fund, Viktor Vekselberg, the Head of New Technologies Development and Commercialization of Development Fund (Skolkovo Management Company), and Mikhail Kovalchuk, Director of Kurchatov Institute, will sign a respective agreement on Thursday.
Reportedly, Skolkovo residents will be able to use Kurchatov Institute database before establishment of the innovative center infrastructure as well as after it. Moreover, the institute will provide assistance in recruiting of scientific and educational personnel for the Skolkovo Project.
In the end of June Skolkovo fund signed a framework agreement on cooperation with the largest American research institution — Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The innovative center will be situated on the territory of two settlements located near Moscow – Odintsovo and Novoivanovskoye. The project is still at the initial stage of its implementation – Skolkovo fund selects a designer of the town-planning concept and carries on negotiations with foreign technology companies on their participation in activities of the future center.
The State Duma has passed the bill on Skolkovo in the first reading so far. At the second reading the deputies will consider an amendment which makes it non-obligatory for the project participants to be located in the center territory during the transition period – up to 2014.
