Russia won European contest of information projects in nuclear power sector

Russian project on informing of population about nuclear power sector won European contest for the best communication project of nuclear power branch «PIME Award for Communications Excellence», informed Department of press service of State corporation «Rosatom».

Results of the contest were announced on Tuesday in Budapest, in the framework of annual conference «PIME» (Public Information Materials Exchange) organized by European nuclear society. Jury headed by Rober Leclair, President of «Synatom» and President of Belgian Nuclear Forum beforehand formed short-list of five projects that included French project «Renewal of population informing centers» (Electricite de France), project of Youth division of European Nuclear Society — «Presentation of nuclear energy sector as climate keeping resource at summit in Copenhagen», blog «YDINREACTIOITA» about nuclear power prepared by commonwealth of Finnish energy companies. Moreover, the short list included international project Promotion of ITER thermonuclear reactor.

The Russian project included in the short list — «Creation of network of information centers on nuclear power» (JSC «Atomexpo») — was presented by director of Department on communications of «Rosatom» Sergey Novikov.

Voting was finished on Tuesday, and at the final session of the conference the final result of «PIME» delegates voting was announced, which by majority of votes granted the victory to the Russian project.

State Corporation «Rosatom» since 2008 opens «Information centers on nuclear power» in capitals of the regions where objects of nuclear power sector and industry are present. At present, four such centers accept visitors (in Tomsk, Voronezh, Rostov-Na-Donu and Kaliningrad), and specialized class is open in Moscow lyceum No. 1547. Opening of the next Information center is planned in Murmansk on board of nuclear-powered ice-breaker «Lenin».

«Task of the information centers is provision of visitors with information on nature of nuclear power and place of nuclear power sector in the modern world in fascinating form using multimedia complex that allows to create for visitors participation effect in the course of „Traveling to the world of nuclear power“», — noted in Rosatom message. Co-organisers of the PIME Conference are International Atomic Energy Agency, Nuclear power agency and European nuclear forum «FORATOM».
