In the Nuclear Power Information Centre there was a meeting with the management and regular readers of Tomsk regional children and youth library being a methodological and resource center for 326 libraries of the region. According to the meeting results the Agreement on cooperation was signed.
Today the library established in 1991 is the largest regional information and cultural center providing a wide range of services for children, youngsters and all those involved in the upbringing of the younger generation. The principal directions of the library activity are patriotic upbringing, local studies, ecology, law, professional orientation, aesthetic education, foreign languages, culture and healthy lifestyle.
“We are old friends and associates in the field of ecological education and enlightenment”, head of the Information Centre Sergey Shalyapin greeted the guests. “What a great number of useful things we together have already done and are ready to do for the young Tomsk inhabitants!”
Pursuant to the signed Agreement on cooperation the section “Kurchatov Library” is to be established in the Tomsk library stock together with organization of collective exhibitions, seminars, meeting with readers, professional orientation work with the school leavers.
“With the greatest pleasure we’ll take part in the informational and educational work of the Nuclear Power Centre”, acting Director of the library Elena Tikhonova said. “In the forefront of the informational battle it’s very important to have reliable and relevant material about the history, condition and development prospects of the nuclear power industry both in our region and in the world. Another task is to instill in children respect for exact and natural sciences, to help them become highly qualified nuclear scientists.
In July 1,400 people visited Tomsk Nuclear Power Information Centre 1,100 of which were children. The majority of the guests (65%) saw the film “The Nuclear Power World”.
